THE UNITED STATES IMMIGRATION PROCESS

Immigrating to the US is a notoriously difficult and complicated process which is not only due to the immigration laws in place but also because of the substantial influx of immigrants that try to gain entry in various states in the US. This overwhelming influx of immigrants has made the US government set in place regulations designed to restrict this flow of immigrants.

The US is one country with the highest numbers of immigration in the world. This indicates how attractive potential immigrants find the opportunities -- like to live a good life, to avail of a good job and earn good money in the US. The highest number of immigrants come from the following countries: Mexico, India, China and the Philippines. As Bill Clinton once said, these immigrants are what energizes the country, the arrival of these countries' most industrious, ambitious and talented people which are actually a boon to the US economy.

Emigrating to the US is not only a very lengthy process but an important and complex decision anyone can make. After an immigrant petition filed in the US is approved by the USCIS, it is forwarded to the National Visa Center for processing. The NVC plays an important role in the next step of the immigrant visa process by providing instructions to petitioners, sponsors and visa applicants, reviewing required Affidavit of Support forms from sponsors; and receiving fees, application forms, and other required documents from visa applicants.

Immigrants often apply for a Green Card when emigrating to the US as a Green Card allows them to legally live and work in the US but doesn't make them a citizen of the US. Being a citizen is going to be determined by applying for the process of naturalization. An immigrant is only able to live and work in the US once their application has successfully been processed and approved by the appropriate government systems.

Another reason why immigrants want to move into the US, is to reunite with their family members who have been residing in the US for a while or have already become US citizens which is something that is done all the time from immigrants from the Mexican border which is notorious for illegal activities like illegal border crossing which has spawned the restrictions on immigration law to secure the nation's borders.

Generally speaking, many immigrants come to the US to live better lives or to experience what they call the "American Dream" and as a result of such aspirational behavior, many immigrants set up businesses in the US, another boost to the US economy. Another advantage is that immigration creates consumer demand that moderately benefits the middle-class.

USA immigration has been a major contributor to the expansion of Hispanic and Asian-American consumer markets, which in the year 2004 was estimated to make up 12% of the national purchasing power and one of the reasons behind the excellent and innovative quality of the United States workforce is the highly skilled immigrant population that contributes to the field of science and technology.

Even though it is a difficult process to successfully emigrate to the US and set up a new life within, many potential immigrants still try their luck especially since there is a wealth of resources available to them if they want to seek advice on how to emigrate to the US.
